The Ahaggar desert is the imposing Atakor massif, 1800 km2 of which is located above 2000 m above sea level and which constitutes the highest region in Algeria. Assekrem, whose altitude reaches 2,780 meters, is undoubtedly the most visited site in this mountain range of indescribable beauty. Assekrem is particularly known for having housed the spiritual retreat of Charles de Foucauld. The force of nature, in these regions, has sculpted, softened, rounded the shapes or, on the contrary, accentuated the sandstone edges to the great delight of the eyes.
